Mini Remote Control Helicopters and Quadcopters are Great Gifts

My aunt recently had triplets, and when thinking about what to buy them for their first birthday, I came across an ad for mini remote control helicopters, and I thought it was a wonderful idea. Since there are three babies, three mini remote helicopters would be just perfect. I was really excited with the idea, but since the helicopters would be so small, it might not be a good idea until the triplets are a little older.

Either way, I started looking into prices for mini remote control helicopters, so I could be an educated consumer whenever the time came to purchase them. Well, I was quite surprised with the price. They were almost as expensive as standard sized remote control helicopters, and I couldn’t understand why. Apparently, according to the salesman, they are so expensive because it takes a long time and lots of patience to assemble all the tiny parts of mini remote control helicopters. I had no idea it was such an intensive process.

Apparently, these people seemed to think that it takes even more attention to detail and talent to assemble mini remote control helicopters than it does to assemble regularly sized helicopters. I understood what they meant when they reminded me that mini remote control helicopters also have more fragile parts, so they often snap unless you have light, nimble fingers.

With all this said, I was much more informed about mini remote control helicopters, and I knew for sure that they weren’t a good gift idea for triplet babies—maybe when they are 10 or 11 years old it will be a good idea, but for now, I think the best thing to get them would be large helicopter stuffed animals—something that they cannot swallow or shatter, and something that isn’t too expensive in case they drool all over it or stain it. This was a good experience for me, thought, because I am often poor at finding gifts, and this was another example of that. Unfortunately, I don’t really know what people would like most, and when I think I have a good idea, I’m usually wrong. The difficulty is, it takes a long time to speak with sales associates about an item, especially if you ultimately decide that it is not a good gift idea.

Another excellent gift to buy is a quadcopter. Some of the best quadcopters are also miniature sizes like the mini remote controlled helicopters. Quadcopters are usually easier to learn how to fly than remote controlled helicopters. Some the mini quadcopters even come with a built-in camera. A quadcopter is becoming more popular than remote controlled helicopter as a gift to buy for relatives during the holiday season. People enjoy taking aerial pictures while flying remote control aircraft.

Often the better thing to do is read testimonials online and see what other people are thinking about a certain product, in this case mini remote control helicopters (but other things apply here as well), and then go from there. You can do that quickly, and you don’t have to pay for gas that way! I hope this little article helped you in your search for mini remote control helicopters, and I hope you ultimately settle on a helicopter model that makes you happy for years to come. Mini remote control helicopters can be a wonderful gift for someone else, or for you. My recommendation is that you just need to make sure they are age appropriate before you commit to a purchase.

7 Exercises to Improve Fitness

Fitness is just as important as health, and in reality, fitness correlates directly with our health. If we are not taking care of our bodies, we get sick. Here are some great recommendations to keep fit:

1. Bicycling
When you ask many adults when the last time they rode a bike is, they cannot answer. Although bicycling is a favorite pastime, many adults do not take advantage of this great option for exercise. Not only does bike riding exercise the body and build a stronger cardiovascular system, it allows you to get out and enjoy nature, fresh air, and see new sites.

2. Jogging or Walking
Both jogging and walking are GREAT ways to get fit. Not only do they tone the muscles, relieve stress, create a healthier heart, and improve lung capability, they make you look wonderful, which in turns helps you get excited about doing other exercise for fitness.

3. Swimming
Swimming is an excellent way to get into and stay in shape. If you do not own a pool, many high schools have aquatic centers, or there is always the YWCA or YMCA, or your local gym. Many offer water aerobic classes that will help you tighten your body, lose weight, and get a good overall workout.

4. Tennis Anyone
Tennis is not only a fun sport, but also a great way to exercise. You do not have to be a Venice Williams to play; in fact, you do not even have to be good. Just running after the ball alone will help get you into shape. This is a great way to strengthen your cardiovascular system and lose weight. You can find tennis courts in just about every city and if you would like to play but have no idea how, lessons are reasonable.

5. Dancing
Dancing is so much fun and whether you enjoy a slow, Ballroom dance or a nightclub packed with people all moving to heart-pumping techno, as long as you are moving, it really does not matter what type of dance or music. The whole idea is to move your body. Dancing has long been recommended as an avenue to fitness.

6. Abdominal Crunches
While you may not end up with a washboard stomach, you can do some things to get your abdomen in better shape. Crunches have long been a favorite for many athletes for the very reason that they work. Lying on your back with knees bent, keeping feet flat on the floor, cross your hands across your chest and then curl your torso, rolling from your sternum toward your hips. Do this slowly and start out with a set of ten crunches in three reps. In other words, do ten crunches, wait a minute, do ten more, wait a minute, and then do the final ten. As you get accustomed to these, you can increase both the number of sets and reps.

7. Squats
Squats are excellent for glutes, hamstrings, quads, and calves. With your feet standing firm and spread apart about two feet, bend your knees slightly. Then, very smoothly, you will squat toward the floor without going all the way down. This usually takes some practice but within a short period, you will enjoy the benefits.

Hiking can be a great way to get exercise and get fit. Start by taking short hikes to build up your stamina. After you have trained for awhile, then you can take longer hikes.

Before you start hiking make sure that you buy yourself a good pair of hiking shoes. A good fitting pair of hiking shoes are probably the most important gear that you need to go hiking.

14 Ways To Stay Fit

1. Fix your posture
It will help your body work more efficiently, keep your muscles properly aligned, relieve aches and pains, and help you look 5 pounds slimmer. Pull those shoulders back and sit/stand up straight!

2. Plan a workout
Scheduling time for your workout will make you much more likely to succeed at actually doing the workout. You may not be able to fit in a workout for another few hours, but at the very least, put that workout on your calendar.

3. Do a plank
A full body exercise that can challenge you anywhere. Well, except for maybe a public bathroom floor. Ick. Regardless, find a clean spot and start planking. What do you know? It can help with that posture, too.

4. Eat some produce
You know fruits and vegetables are good for you. Simply eating a serving (or two or five) will help you feel refreshed and healthier. Fit some into your next meal.

5. Drink some water
Nature’s cleanser. We’re meant to drink it. Often. Just do it.

6. Go for a walk
It doesn’t have to be an hour long session, but simply getting up and moving around regularly throughout your day has been linked to better overall health. Instead of sitting in your desk chair all day, take a few 5-10 minute walking breaks sporadically. Head out around the neighborhood when you get home. Basically, every bit of movement adds up. Move more. Even little bits at a time.

7. Pop a vitamin
While vitamins never take place of a solid, nutritious diet, many of us can all use a little help with a multi-vitamin. They even make them chewable now. Come on! You can take one.

8. Stretch
Regularly stretch out stiff muscles through the day. Take 10 minutes after that planned workout. Similar to posture, stretching will keep your body working optimally…which means, you feeling good.

9. Write down the positives
Don’t be so hard on yourself! Write down as many positives about yourself as you can. A healthy self-image is part of a healthy body.

10. Write down goals
Next up, write down your goals. Write down WHY better health/fitness matters to you. Knowing the why and the goal will drive you to taking action.

11. Visualize
You have the goal, but do you have the image. Picture your success. Picture positive results. It may seem hokey, but it works. And at the very least, it can’t hurt, now can it?

12. Stand instead of sit
Whenever you can, stand up instead of sitting down. It uses more energy. It can help with your posture. It all goes back to little changes adding up over time.

13. Take some deep breaths
Stress is a killer. It can deter your best laid plans. It messes with your hormones. It’s just not cool. Use whatever stress coping technique you have in your arsenal – such as stopping to take some deep breaths and count to ten.

14. Talk with someone who inspires you
Spend some time with someone you admire and that encourages you, even via phone or in an email.

BONUS: Get Up and Go Outside
Get up and go outside and take up a hobby. You  will be amazed at the new things that you can learn to do and enjoy. You could go fishing, swimming, biking, jogging, or even hunting. If you choose hunting then you would most likely need to buy some hunting gear like a rifle. If you need to buy a rifle, make sure you go and buy a good rifle scope to go with it. A good rifle will do you no good if you can’t see your target. So spend the time to find the right scope for your rifle so that you will be able to lock onto see your target quickly.

Secrets to Longevity

It seems that the secret to the Fountain of Youth and realizing longevity is to develop several healthy habits and maintain them throughout your life. In order to live a long and healthy life, you must take care of yourself in a number of ways. This includes maintaining a healthy body, healthy mind, positive attitude and staying active with hobbies.

Obviously to maintain a healthy body a person must adhere to eating healthy. There are many doctors and nutritionists that will tell you that eating several servings of fruits and vegetables on a daily basis will lead to good health. Also, limiting your intake of red meat will go a long way towards to a healthy body. Nutritionists always encourage people to substitute servings of fish for red meat as much as possible.

Another healthy habit includes maintaining a healthy mind. Eating the right foods will contribute to maintaining a healthy body which in turn will provide support to maintaining a healthy mind. However, in addition to eating healthy, it is recommendation that you engage or exercise your mind regularly. Some simple ways to exercise your mind is to play games, work crossword puzzles, work Sudoku puzzles or similar exercises.

Reading books regularly is another way to keep your mind and brain working. Continually trying to learn more information about topics that are interesting to you will work to keep your mind healthy.

Maintaining a positive attitude is very important and crucial in living a long life. Maintaining a positive attitude will help your body stay healthy in ways that modern medicine can’t even quantify. Always searching for and looking for the positive side of any situation will lead to maintaining a positive attitude even during difficult times.

Lastly, one of the characteristics of those that have enjoyed living a long life is that they were always active with a hobby or serving for a special cause. You must remain active to be able to live a long life. Some people still drive their cars into their mid-90s.

Some hobbies that you can maintain include actively participating in community service. Your local hospital has patients and patient’s families that are always in need of someone to help them or just being available to talk to.

Other hobbies that you could participate in include playing a sport like tennis or golf. Still other hobbies can include fishing and hunting. You can take your grandchildren on a fishing trip or a hunting trip and teach them about the woods and wildlife. A very interesting way to teach the grandchildren about wildlife and deer hunting is to take pictures of the animals in the wild and then discuss them with the little ones. You can capture great images of the animals in their natural settings by using a remote camera. A game camera is a remote camera that takes a picture when activated by motion. With the camera tied to a tree or fence post, it will snap a picture when a deer or other animal walks in front of it.The images that the game camera captures can be shown to the grandchildren for a great learning experience.

The essential secret to longevity is to maintain a balance of healthy habits throughout your lifetime. It is also very important to start developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle early in life.

4 Simple Ways to Prevent Getting a Cold or Flu

The common cold is so common that are billions of cases every year in the United States. Even healthy people with strong immune systems are prone to catching a cold. Doctors and scientists are constantly searching for the best ways to combat germs and create a more effective flu shot.

It is nearly impossible to avoid catching a cold from time to time. We have reviewed some of the best advice available to provide you with 4 simple and effective ways to minimize the possibility of getting a cold or flu.

1. Take Care of Yourself
Eat healthy foods to provide a boost to your immunity system and get plenty of sleep each night. The types of foods that are included in your diet will make a big difference in how well your body’s immune system is able to fight off germs associated with a cold and a flu.

Reduce the amount of fat intake and increase the amount of fruit and vegetables that you eat. Fruits and vegetables will help provide a boost to your immune system. Also work on reducing the amount of processed foods consumed. Nutrition experts recommend eating a well-balanced diet to keep colds and flu away.

2. Take Your Vitamins
Vitamin C is very important in helping the body ward off a cold. Vitamins D, E and beta-carotene are also important vitamins that help the body fight germs. A recent medical study determined that low levels of Vitamin D could make the body vulnerable to contracting colds and flu.

3. Wash Your Hands More Often
Washing your hands is probably one of the most effective methods in stopping the spread of germs during cold and flu season. Always wash your hands before leaving the bathroom whether it is a public bathroom and the bathroom in your home. Door handles and surfaces of doors are another very common surface where germs are present. When leaving a public restroom, it is extremely advisable to use of paper towel to open the door with when you are exiting the restroom.

Research indicates that approximately 80% of infectious diseases are spread by touch. And the best protection from the spread of germs by touch is frequent hand washing. According to the Center for Disease Control, “hand washing is the single most important means of preventing the spread of viral and bacterial infections.”

Every day, our hands may come in contact with many surfaces some of which can be contaminated with germs. If you touch your face after touching a contaminated surface, the germs can enter your body through a number of ways such as your eyes, nose, or mouth. Germs can also be spread by shaking someone’s hand or handling an item like a pen or pencil that other people have touched.

Germs can spread from one person to another when you touch a computer keyboard or mouse after a person that is sick has been using it or the person had contaminated hands. Another way germs can be transmitted is by use of someone else’s cell phone.

4. Go Get a Flu Shot
The potential for catching the flu can be minimized by getting a flu vaccination. People at risk for catching the flu including those with an impaired immunity and people over the age of 50 can benefit from having a flu shot.

The flu vaccine can take from 2 to 4 weeks to take effect and the vaccination will be good for up to 6 months.

The flu vaccine does not provide a 100 percent assurance that you want catch the flu. However, after taking the flu shot, if you do come down with the flu it will be less severe due to the immunities received from the shot.

Enjoyable Anti-Aging Techniques You Can Do Any Time

Taking years off your looks doesn’t have to be accompanied by a surgical procedure and thousands of dollars. You can accomplish this yourself with a few anti-aging techniques you may already be familiar with, but maybe haven’t given much thought to… yet.

It is never too early, or late, to begin these simple anti-aging techniques. The sooner you start, and the more you do them, the more they will enhance your youthful appearance. Most of us take a stab at these simple anti-aging techniques from time to time, but real results will only be seen if we make them a regular part of our routine. And why not! Each of these techniques can easily be done every day right at home; and they’re enjoyable. Let’s take a look:

  • Simple exercise. The body is bombarded with pollution every day: environmental, lifestyle, household, and internal. These pollutants can lead to cellular damage as they create a toxic environment inside of us. Exercise can help alleviate that burden. Exercise helps you lose weight, increase endorphin production (the feel good hormone), improve mental clarity and focus (more oxygen to the brain), boosts immunity, and strengthens muscle and bone. Chisel thirty minutes out of your day to walk around the block. This simple routine will put the sparkle back in your eyes, a bounce back in your step, and the rosy color back in your cheeks; all which make you look like a much younger version of yourself.
  • Meditation. Take time to focus on your calm inner-self; it’s all about the mind-body connection. You can use your mind to change how your body reacts to stimuli. We all know that free radicals are responsible for the signs of aging as well as many diseases and ailments. Regular meditation can reduce the free radical damage in your body by reducing stress. You don’t have to have a meditation guru guide. Just sit quietly, without distraction, and focus on something pleasing and calm. Breathe deep, and relax. Don’t go over your to-do list. Now is the time to let all the stress of the day out of your body. Give yourself 5, 10, or 15 minutes; whatever it takes to feel the calm wash over you, and the stress wash out of you.
  • Laughter. They say laughter is the best medicine, and I have to agree. One of the most powerful things you can do to lift your mood is have a good laugh. The bonus is that you are using your face muscles in an uplifting way, instead of frowning or scowling. A good belly laugh several times a day will get your face used to smiling, which will improve your looks. There is also evidence to indicate that even faking a smile will get your endorphins pumped up and producing those happy feelings. Take a few minutes to read a comic, watch a clip from a favorite movie, or read a funny story. Or just think about a family member or friend that cracks you up. Smile lines make you look much younger than frown lines do.
  • Proper eating habits. Consuming only the foods that the body needs will not only speed up your metabolism but will also help the body to work more efficiently. Choosing antioxidant-rich foods, healthy fats, lean protein, whole grains, and a host of fruits and vegetables provide all you need to maintain healthy skin, bones, and organs. Eliminate any over-processed foods that contain a lot of artificial ingredients, refined sugars, and other non-essentials. The closer you stay to whole, natural foods, the better your skin will look and feel. If your body is busy trying to rid itself of toxins you’ve just eaten, it can’t do a good job of getting the proper nutrients to your vital organs, including your skin and its supporting tissues.
  • Water water everywhere. Along with good food, you need good water. Hydration is essential to your entire body. Dehydration is nothing to take lightly. If your skin is dry, your entire body is dry. That means your organs, including your brain, are not getting the water they need to function. Start each day with a glass of water. Have water at your side all day. It’s a fact that if you feel thirsty you are already dehydrated, so the object is to never get thirsty. Each time you drink a glass of water, refill it. Keep water handy all day long and your skin and body will thank you.
  • Daily skin care. Follow a simple skin care routine each morning and evening. Cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize your skin every day. Use a moisturizer with a sunscreen in the morning to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Depending on the season and weather conditions, you may need to re-apply the sunscreen during the day. Extremely cold weather will rob your skin of moisture so use a lotion that protects your skin and offers additional moisturizing properties. At night cleanse your skin again and add an enriching lotion to seal in your skin’s moisture. In other words, treat your skin well and it will reward you with a soft, supple appearance.
  • Intimacy and sex. Endorphins are released in lots of ways; like eating comfort foods, laughing, and exercise. But did you know that sex and intimacy gets those endorphins moving, too? Sex and intimacy with your partner not only improves your relationship but can burn calories and build muscles. Many studies show that couples who engage in sex regularly are happier and less stressed. You can cuddle with your mate, wrestle, chase each other around the room, have a lot of laughs, and also have sex. All these intimacies get your blood pumping and gives the skin a pretty glow. You’ll not only look younger, you’ll feel younger, too.

Are you looking for simple ways to fight aging? Begin by getting your body and mind on the same track. These are techniques that don’t require a lot of money or time. They are just things you can do at home, routinely, to give you, and your skin, a new youthful outlook.

Discover Real Foods That Are Essential In The Battle Against Aging

When it comes to fighting the signs of aging, the solution doesn’t always lie across the pharmacy counter or in the doctor’s office. Some of the best ways to grow old gracefully can be found right in your very own kitchen.

Most of the nutrients that the body needs everyday to survive are found in the foods that we eat. Unfortunately, many of us are not making the proper food choices to keep our bodies, and skin, healthy. Making a few changes to our diet can make a big difference in how we feel and look. If don’t want to change your eating habits, you can add a new vitamin or supplement to your diet. Resveratrol supplements are strong antioxidants that have the potential to provide many anti-aging benefits.

Antioxidants save the day
When talking about foods to eat we’re mainly talking about the general category of antioxidants in food. How does adding foods rich in antioxidants to your diet help your skin?

The body takes on a lot of stresses in a day. One byproduct of this stress, or cellular activity, is free radicals. Free radicals are unstable substances that lack an electron so they steal it from healthy cells throughout the body. This can lead to signs of aging, disease, and pain over time. Antioxidants are natural substances that are designed to neutralize the effects of free radicals. Eating foods that contain antioxidants will lower the free radical count in your body and lessen the damage they can do.

So, what should we be eating to improve our overall health and youthful appearance? Let’s take a look at some of the foods that contain nutrients essential to fighting off the aging process:

 1. Berries

The mighty blueberry shines in this group, but other berries like blackberries, cranberries, and raspberries all play a part in neutralizing free radicals that damage your skin. You’ll notice a theme in these berries; they all are very colorful. Stick to dark colored berries for the best nutritional punch. Berries actually help the body make collagen, the substance that supports and plumps the skin, so adding a good portion of berries to your diet every day is a smart thing to do to battle wrinkles. Berries are also loaded with Vitamins C, E, and riboflavin, as well as being a good source of fiber.

 2. Green Tea

Another powerhouse in the fight against free radicals, green tea has become the go-to beverage for everything from losing weight to lowering blood pressure. Green tea is known to have anti-inflammatory properties as well as antioxidants. Not only does drinking green tea improve your overall health, but many skin creams now contain green tea extract which allows you to rub it right into your skin. Green tea is also believed to help prevent some skin cancers caused by the sun’s damaging rays. Drinking green tea daily gives you a good source of Vitamins C, D, K, and riboflavin, calcium, and iron

 3. Nuts

You need plenty of good fatty acids to help prevent skin dryness. Adding nuts to your daily diet will provide not only healthy fatty acids, but also Vitamins A, E, riboflavin, zinc, and selenium. The Brazil nut is an especially excellent source of selenium, which helps with the skin’s elasticity by producing glutathione which neutralizes free radicals in the body; the same free radicals that are destroying our skin’s collagen and elastin. Eat a variety of nuts, including almonds, walnuts, Brazil nuts, and pine nuts, every day to add good fatty acids to your diet along with a host of essential vitamins and minerals.

4. Avocados

At first glance, you may think you should stay away from avocados because they appear to be high in fat. But, most of the fat is monounsaturated and is considered a healthy fat. Avocados are rich in omega-9 fat, a powerful skin plumper which also improves dry skin, as well as Vitamin C and Vitamin E, which act together to form a strong anti-aging team. Vitamin B6 is another free radical warrior and is essential to your skin’s youthful look and healthy overall condition. Just one small avocado gives you enough B6 to meet your daily requirement.

 5. Carrots

This may not often make the top of the skin-health list, but there are good reasons it should. Carrots are an excellent source of beta-carotene. What is beta-carotene? Beta-carotene converts to vitamin A inside the body. Vitamin A is crucial for skin cell health. You may have a Vitamin A deficiency if your skin is dry. If you have light skin, eating carrots can also provide a slight SPF sun protection. Carrots also are a good source of Vitamin C which fights free radicals and promotes the creation of collagen in the skin.

 6. Sweet Potatoes

Another overlooked powerhouse in the battle against aging skin is sweet potatoes. Not only do these spuds deliver a healthy dose of beta-carotene and Vitamin C, but sweet potatoes also contain Vitamin E. What’s important about the combination of these two vitamins is that they work together. Vitamin E helps regenerate Vitamin C in the body, which maximizes the effectiveness of Vitamin C. This one-two punch becomes a very effective antioxidant and offers topnotch skin protection.

 7. Whole Grains

Vitamins A, C, and E have taken center stage in the battle against aging skin, but there’s another player in town that’s just as important; that’s the B complex group. Eating breads and cereals that are made with whole grains, as opposed to refined grains, provide B complex vitamins which are essential for healthy skin. The B Vitamins are necessary for the growth of new cells which replace the dull, dead cells. This group of vitamins also helps protect skin against stress. A shortage of B Vitamins in your diet could result in dry, rough skin; even cracking and peeling.

 8. Cold water fish

This group of fish includes salmon, sardines, mackerel, and fresh tuna. These may seem like a fatty bunch of fish, but the fat is the healthy kind containing omega-3 fatty acids. These fatty acids are responsible for healthy cell membranes. These stronger cell membranes are more able to keep water in which keeps the skin cells hydrated; and hydrated cells will give us skin that is supple and younger looking. Salmon is also another source that’s high in selenium, which we know helps the body in its ongoing battle against skin damaging free radicals.

All the wrinkle reducing potions in the world won’t help if you aren’t giving your skin a fighting chance from within. Start your anti-aging battle with a healthy diet filled with nutrient rich foods. These simple, and delicious, foods are some of the easiest things you can choose to fight the effects of aging.

 8. Take Vitamins

Doctors recommend that we eat a variety of foods daily in order for our bodies to take in all the necessary minerals and nutrients that it needs each day. However, most people struggle to take in all of the recommended vitamins and minerals each day. Here is a good resource for finding out what are the best vitamins for men to take on a daily basis.s

Researchers at St. Louis University have learned that, while exercising more and eating less will lead to weight loss, eliminating extra calories will also lower production of a thyroid hormone that functions to slow down your metabolic rate. The medical scientists also believe that a lower amount of this thyroid hormone may also act to slow the aging process.
